About this time last week I was in Boston working with my #beachonhillchd clients. I shopped and selected rugs, accessories, and even plants, for their newly renovated space. With the addition of the textiles and botanicals the rooms took on a 'homier' look and feel. Surprisingly, the color orange became the accent color in the main living areas allowing for ottomans and pillows to be interchangeable between the different spaces. In the kitchen we emphasized the cabinetry color, Farrow & Ball's Railings, with a dark rug and oversized vintage botanical prints. Brass hardware and a lighting fixture lent a classic look to this space. For the first time ever, I got to see the Modo Chandelier in its destined spot: smack dab in the middle of my clients' huge living room window. I love it there and I'm happy to say my clients do too. All of the lighting we selected for this Beacon Hill residence is spectacular and there's more to come!
I'll be venturing back in the warmer months to tackle the dinning room area and to add some final details to the living room. Many thanks to AK and BD for allowing me the opportunity to work on your home. It's been, and continues to be, a great experience!
For the past year I've been working with clients in Boston. At first, we gutted their Beacon Hill condominium to update the utilities, raise the ceiling, refinish the floor and restore some of the residence's architectural details. Over the summer I had the opportunity to begin decorating the home and I'm flying East tomorrow to continue the process. We'll be adding rugs, accessories, accent pieces and, of course, some indoor botanicals. Follow my search as I Instagram potential items for this project at #beaconhillchd. It will be fun to have you along!
For the past year, I've been working with a Boston couple on a Beacon Hill apartment renovation. Despite the cross-country distance between us things have been progressing very well. When we first met to discuss the project last summer, we shared our expectations and ideas for their amazing space. We also interviewed and hired a contractor, who not long afterwards, began gutting the entire place. Since then, the ceilings were raised, the floors replaced, paint colors and wall treatments were decided upon and a totally redesigned kitchen was taking shape. The rebuild was completed in June and my clients have officially moved in. During my summer trip back East, I spent time with them working on furnishings, accessories and rug selections. Although a few things are still needed to complete the space, I wanted to share our progress thus far. I would like to start by showing their brand new study. Stay tuned for more room reveals and further updates on how a house becomes a home.
Thank you AK and BD for giving Cocoon Home Design the opportunity to work with you on your new home. It's been quite an exciting collaboration.
Congratulations!!

While in Boston, I had the opportunity to spend a night at a dear friend's place. I've always felt welcomed and comfortable in this home. My friend's place is earthy, eclectic and classical at the same time. Little vignettes scattered throughout the house are meant to remind of exotic trips, special family memories or stories of a personal nature. There are seashells from a trip we all took to Vieques Island almost 9 years ago, her Nana's favorite chair, seed pods collected on hikes in many faraway places and, of course, there is Henry (featured above). The walls are a feast for the eyes due to an amazing art collection. While music played faintly in the background, I snapped away trying to capture a brief moment of my life in her very special space.
Thank you JG for hosting me and for sharing your warm and cozy home with our Cocoon Home Blog readers.
