Looking at photos I recently took of our children, I can clearly see the changes in them. These changes are not just physical. True, the baby fat is no longer there, their faces are elongating, their eyes are more expressive, and their height, well their height is ever changing. What I notice most, however, is the sweet spot they are in right now for us. They're all very engaged within our family, funnier than ever, and still eager to please. Their personalities are coming through and they are becoming comfortable with themselves. These times are precious. I'm confident they will always be as they are now, and their loving, kind, charismatic personalities will be shared with many, but the fact that they still want and need to be with Alex and me, is something we do not take for granted. Precious times, indeed.
A Family Photo Session
During our stay in Cambridge this summer, I had the chance to catch up with my photographer friend Kristen of Kristen Joy Emack Photography. Having always admired her personal style of portrait photography, I asked Kristen to take pictures of our family. She accepted and invited us to a spot that she chose very carefully. Her ease with the lens and the people in front of it shows through the realness of her approach to photography. Here are a few images from our morning session with Kristen. I'm so pleased with the results.
Over the summer, Kristen was named best photographer by Scout Cambridge Magazine. To see more of Kristen's work check out her website here.
Thank you Kristen for capturing the essence of our family.
A Tribute To 2013
I was somewhat in denial of the New Year upon us, until I started looking through past blog posts and realized just how much transpired during the last 12 months. What began as an extension of my work, the Cocoon Home Blog has become more of a personal dairy replete with fleeting moments, spontaneous visits, favorite places, culinary awakenings, a little matchmaking, brand new endeavors, familiar settings and furry best friends.
Thanks so much for taking the journey through 2013 with me. I wish for all to have a safe, healthy, joyful and prosperous 2014.
Happy New Year!!!
