Before And After: Kitchen/Part 1

Part 1 of this Before and After reveals how Cocoon Home transformed a kitchen by repurposing its current furniture, editing and adding pattern and color.  With a sofa and comfortable counter stools in place, this family of five kitchen doubles as a place to hang, do homework and read.  Already well organized and outfitted with great cabinetry and counters,  the space needed to be brightened and updated.  Using Niesha Crosland's Moorish Circles wallpaper the kitchen area now takes on a whole new feel with a mix of bold color and pattern.  Take a look at these before and after photos.  Not only will Part 2 reveal how we managed to [aesthetically] add a mini mud room to the space,  but also feature our next reader giveaway.

Stay posted for part 2 of this kitchen's makeover and reader giveaway!

Entry Stairway: Before And After

A few weeks ago,  Cocoon Home painted large tonal stripes on an entry stairway wall for a client.  Using Farrow & Ball's Stony Ground for the darker stripe and Shaded White for the lighter one,  the entry was transformed into an updated, warmer and inviting space.   Stripes are great for decorating stairway walls.  They offer an alternative to hanging frames or adding wainscoting, especially if the wall is particularly tall.  The graphic nature of the pattern carries one's eye upwards and the width of the stripes fills the empty wall.   Neutral colors give this space an elegant and welcoming feel, thus preserving the style of the home and its owners.   Take a look at the before and after photos:

Public School Entrance Makeover: Before And After

Opportunities to work on projects that impact a community are extremely rewarding.  Very recently,  Cocoon Home Design updated a neighborhood public school’s entryway with bright colors, a blackboard wall, and inspirational words.  Sherwin-Williams generously donated the paint and  enthusiastic volunteers donated their time and talent to transform the entrance to Cambridgeport School.

Refresh. Renew. Repurpose: Cocoon's Design Approach

For a few years now, we’ve helped people redecorate their homes with their own “stuff”.  Whether on a budget or a time constraint, some clients just need a swift makeover for their spaces.  Some had just moved into a new home, others were about to sell theirs and some just needed to edit, reorganize and refresh their cocoons.

These projects have brought us so much satisfaction and positive feedback, that I’ve decided to make the “one-day makeover” a permanent design service for Cocoon Home Design.  Read a few of the testimonials from past clients and take a look at some of the spaces we transformed in just a few hours.

"Natalia and Debra transformed our life by making our home so much more livable and enjoyable.  Using their amazing sense of style and organization, each of the rooms they tackled gained a new level of beauty.  We fell in love with our house after the simple and smart changes they made to it."  Natalia Andalo--Westwood, Ma

"I've had three face lifts from Cocoon.  One in my living room a few years ago, last summer at my Cape cottage and recently,  my refreshed study in Boston.  It is like working with a whirling dervish with a magic wand.  They are non stop energy with an amazing eye for clean lines.  I can't believe the transformations with the same stuff.  Truly amazing!!!"  Barbara Torrey--Boston, Ma

"In the span of just a few hours, Cocoon Home Design revolutionized the way this of five does life.  Our main level floor plan went from being confined and over-accessorized to spacious and composed, using only pieces we owned.  No more tiny toes being stubbed or little elbows knocking things off tables-dare I say the boys are fighting less.  I am now sitting in front of the fire in my quiet house and I LOVE what I see and feel.  Thanks again for helping me."  Carrie Zarechnak--Oakhill, Va

If your space is feeling a little tired, a bit cluttered and somewhat uninspiring, it's time for a quick jumpstart to make IT and YOU feel whole and new again.  A quick makeover can make all the difference.

Many thanks to Natalia, Barbara and Carrie for allowing my blog readers into their homes and writing such lovely testimonials about our Cocoon Home Design team.

Before And After: A Basement Turns Into a Cool Hangout For Kids.

Cocoon Home Design just finished a fun project designing a basement space for 3 energetic kids and their friends.  With almost an addition 1000 sq feet making the basement area safe, functional and fun was key to expanding the every day living space for this family.  With bold colors, wall decals, a chalkboard  and even a disco ball the basement now has a whole new identity.  One that mom and dad are thrilled about.  Take a look at the before and after photos:
