Planting With A Purpose

Last week, I had the pleasure of hosting members of the CAPC (Child Abuse Prevention Council) for a demonstration on how to create and care for a succulent planter.  The lesson yielded 22 planters that will serve as center pieces for the organization's upcoming fundraising event.  Using textured metallic vessels and three distinct types of succulents,  the group dug in and carefully arranged and planted them to create stunning additions to their luncheon's table settings.  Take a look:

Botanical Inspiration: The Planted Garden In Bloom

It's been a little over year since our move to California and for the first time we're enjoying our past season's gardening efforts.  Succulents and bromeliads planted months ago have matured and blossomed into an array of very interesting, delicate looking blooms.  Even our vertical garden is displaying itsy-bitsy blossom wonders.  Take a look:

Botanical Inspiration: Cocoon Home Trunk Show

Vertical gardens, tin planters, basket arrangements and assorted seed pods were all up for grabs at Cocoon Home's first botanical trunk show last week.  With live music, wine, cheese and a great group of people, the evening represented a great combination of art, business and pleasure.
