Client Update: Pacific Heights
With a three week deadline and [an almost] empty space this project ended up to be one of my favorites. A recent move from Chicago to San Francisco with few items in tow, made my Pacific Heights client realize his new space needed to feel like home and...quickly. The first thing Cocoon Home set out to do was to strategically place big plants to thrive in the amazing light, frame the awesome views and give the space a natural feel. Such a short deadline dictated that basic items needed to be sourced on the spot (no room for lead times). It was a touch of sheer luck that the start of the project coincided with the renowned Alameda Flea Market, where most of the accessories that set the tone for the apartment were acquired. Larger pieces, i.e. furniture, were found at the Chestnut St. Pottery Barn in S.F., The Wooden Duck in Berkeley and at West Elm in Emeryville. Our finds in each of these stores helped create the look and mood we were hoping to achieve. Taking into consideration our client's love for Paris and french style in general, we coupled masculine metal pieces with softer white fabrics and indigo textiles to create a California home with a Parisian feel. As you enter the space, antique french documents next to a vintage typewriter atop Pottery Barn's Burke Console table help set the tone for the rest of the space. Patterned rugs and clean lines flow and welcome one from room to room, all seemingly coordinated yet not overly intentional. In time, our client will add his own personal touches and together we'll find beautiful art and a few more rugs to add the finishing touches to this sophisticated bachelor pad. In the interim, take at look at what was accomplished thus far in a VERY short span of time:
Layered Neutrals: Part 2
I recently had the opportunity to visit clients who recently welcomed their second child. After a brief hiatus from working on their home, I stopped by to stylize their living room with a couple of plants, several patterned pillows and a comfy throw. Seeing how the space emerged from the virtual room inspiration (below) into real life was quite rewarding. As life settles down for the growing family more personal touches will be added, but for now they have the foundation for an inviting living area to read, play and watch TV. Many congratulations SH and JH on your adorable new arrival.
These are the key pieces that make up the room.
1. EQ3's Mañana Floor Lamp 2. Williams and Sonoma Herringbone Flamestitch Rug 3. West Elm's Paneled Armoire 4. Suite NY's Friday Lounger 5. Room and Board's Tyne Round Coffee Table and 6. the Mota Wedge Sectional from Viesso.
Kitchen Renovation: Part 7
All the details are queued up, some have even been placed, but all else in our kitchen renovation seems to be at a total stand still. Delayed cabinetry, drawers and electrical issues put the project in limbo at a time when we're all so ready for it to be DONE. Thankfully, in the interim, I have these brass beauties to cuddle and to keep me focused on the vision of our brand new kitchen.
If all goes as planned, the drawers and the cabinet faces will be installed tomorrow. Let's keep things moving!!
Room Inspiration: Layered Neutrals
Now that most of the pieces from this "room inspiration" have been received and placed in our clients' home, it's time to begin accessorizing. Having been inspired by this home, the neutral palette will likely be layered with tonal patterns in pillows, throws and maybe even in a pouf [or two]. By adding plants the space will brighten and extend from the inside to the outdoors. Stay tuned for its reveal.
